MEET THE OWNER

Allison Sardo, M.S. CCC-SLP
Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist

Allison Sardo, M.S. CCC-SLP is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist who specializes in the evaluation and treatment of pediatric speech and language disorders. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies with a specialized focus on Speech-Language Pathology and Linguistics from the University of Delaware. She then went on to earn her Masters of Science degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) at the MGH Institute of Health Professions, where she trained under some of the leading speech-language pathologists in the Boston area. With nearly twenty years of experience practicing professionally, Allison has provided speech and language services to children with a wide variety of support needs in the areas of early childhood language development and school-aged speech and language disorders, working in settings such as the Boston Public Schools (at a nationally recognized full inclusion elementary school), South Boston Head Start, Cambridge-Somerville Early Intervention, and now in private practice since 2018.

Speech Therapy Alington MA

Allison is a neurodiversity-affirming therapist who strives to create a supportive, compassionate, and trusting therapeutic atmosphere for all families who choose to work with Springboard Speech & Language Services. She believes that therapy sessions should always be fun, engaging, and functional so that children of all ages can develop their communication skills as quickly and as naturally as possible. She begins each therapeutic relationship by establishing a strong connection with each child, often incorporating their areas of special interest into her therapy sessions to foster trust, engagement, and a willingness to learn throughout the therapeutic process. Allison is a firm believer in the power of play when addressing early childhood speech and language skills. Play truly is the 'work' of children and, when new skills are learned through play in a child's natural home environment, they become more meaningful and generalize more quickly into natural contexts. Emphasizing a parent-coaching model with early childhood intervention, it is her goal to provide parents with the tools to model effective therapy strategies at home during family activities and daily routines outside of formal therapy sessions. For older children, Allison often uses a multi-sensory approach (visual, verbal, and tactile-kinesthetic) to address targeted speech and language skills and provides parents with easy strategies and activities to help reinforce these skills at home. Understanding the importance of a whole-team approach to treating, Allison enjoys collaborating with other professionals that are part of each child’s treatment team with the goal of promoting consistency in treatment approaches across a variety of settings. She always tailors her therapy approaches according to the latest evidence-based research and practices in the field of speech-language pathology and frequently participates in continuing education workshops and seminars to expand her skill set.

Allison is certified nationally by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) through which she maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) and through the Massachusetts Board of Registration for Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology. She has a professional special interest in and passion for neuroscience and how it impacts development, cognition, behavior, and language acquisition.
